Is there such a thing as a moth proof carpet? To answer this question we must look at why moths eat carpets.

Moths (and carpet beetles) are not great at flying so they tend to run or hop about at floor level and like dark warm areas such as under beds and items of furniture. Due to this behaviour it is rare to hear about sightings of moths, just threadbare carpets! Carpet moths can be extremely destructive. It is the larvae that usually cause the damage, frequently munching their way through large patches of carpet!

They feed on the fibres of natural wool carpets - moths will only attack a man made carpet if there are other "goodies" on the pile that has been brought in from another source, good housekeeping should keep man made carpets safe from moths. So many people say a man made carpet is moth resistant.

There are some wool carpets that have moth resistant treatments applied at manufacture - All Westex wool carpets are treated as are about half of Cormar Carpets.

Prevention is the key to protecting your carpets from moths.  Always move sofas and beds when vacuuming to make sure you remove any dust or other build ups that attract moths as well as removing any signs of moths.
