Before choosing the carpet style and fibre for your room please first read our top 10 tips for buying carpet:
- Choose the right colour – it might be an obvious statement but many people select a carpet by just looking at the image on the website. Please take advantage of our free sample service for all our carpets. This gives you the opportunity to look at the colour in daylight and the artificial light to make sure it is what you want.
- Consider the area as well as the price – the amount of wear your carpet will receive will vary depending on where it is fitted. A downstairs room or stairs will receive more wear and general soiling than an upstairs area such as a bedroom. If possible spend more of your budget on buying a durable, resilient carpet for areas that will see more heavy duty use.
- Measure your room carefully and accurately – Make sure you remember little “dropbacks” in your room such as doorways and alcoves. It is surprising how many people forget these areas!
- Choose a good quality carpet underlay – This will help the performance as well as the feel of your carpet.
- Follow care and cleaning guides – some carpets can be cleaned by a 10% bleach solution but others will lose their colour if you tried this as a cleaning soltution.
- Extra Wide Carpet - To avoid seams many of our ranges come in 4 or 5 metre widths. This will reduce the need for a join in those really big rooms.
- Be ready for your delivery – Carpets are a big and bulky item that is heavy. Our standard delivery is to kerbside only and you need to consider how to move and store it.
- DIY or professional – Fitting is really important but it can be done by as a DIY job. If you are not happy in undertaking the fitting please have a look at the National Institute of Carpet and Floorlayers for a qualified fitter in you area.
- Accessories – Do not forget to order your carpet underlay and other accessories such as door trims and perimeter trims. Another way to save money!
