Hand Knotted Wool

Hand made by only the most skilled craftsmen the hand knotted production technique is the most time consuming of all our ranges. Knotting is used to attach the weft to the warp which in turn creates the pile of the rug. Each Rug is unique and made with care. All Think's hand knotted products are made with 100% Wool.

Hand Tufted Wool

The tufting process comprises of a tufter injecting the pile through a backing cloth from behind. Each pile is individually injected, the closer the tufts, the higher the density. Products of a higher density use a larger amount of material and are therefore more expensive. The quality of the wool is also important. All of Think's hand tufted wool ranges are made with high grade wool and have over 250,000 tufts per square meter.

Hand Woven

The hand woven production method covers a broad spectrum, Think's product are woven by hand on a traditional loom. each weft is fed through the warp alternating above and below. Once several are in place they are knocked together to create a dense weave. This method often results in a flat weave and therefore a very thin product.

Hand Tufted Shaggy

The production of hand tufted shaggy rugs is very similiar to all other products, this involves the tufter injecting the pile through a backing cloth from behind. Each pile is individually injected, the closer the tufts, the higher the density. To create a shaggy product the length of each individual tuft is increased dramatically. Products of a higher density or longer pile use a larger amoutn of material, and therefore cost more to produce.

Hand Tufted Acrylic

Made in exactly the same way as hand tufted wool. The tufting process comprises of a tufter injecting the pile through a backing cloth from behind. Each pile is individually injected, the closer the tufts, the higher the density. Products of a higher density use a larger amount of material and are therefore more expensive. The only variation in the production method is the material used. Think Rugs tuft all their acrylic products with 100% high grade acrylic.

Washable

All of the washable ranges are machine washable. Usually the production methods are adjusted to reduce glues and other products that can be affected by heat. Only machine wash products with appropriate labels and instructions.

Machine Made

All machine made products are mass produced on four meter wide looms. Thousands of bobbins provide the yarn for each loom whcih produces products using a computer aided design program. The rugs are produced in 4m wide sections before being cut out and finished by hand. All binding, carving and trimming is completed by hand.
