A correctly installed vinyl floor will last for years and years.  It is also one of the easiest floorings to look after and maintain.

Our Top Ten Tips

1. Sweep and mop the floor regularly – this removes dirt that can build up and make the floor look dirty and tired.

2. Use a vacuum cleaner –but make sure it is suitable for hard floors - do not use a vacuum with a beater bar as it could tear or damage the vinyl.

3. Only use products recommended by the manufacturer for cleaning your floor.

4. Attack is the best from of defence! - Clean any spills immediately to avoid staining.

5. Furniture pads on the bottom of chair and table legs will help to keep reduce dents and scrapes caused by dragging these items over your kitchen flooring.

6.  If using a steam mop ensure that it is one that is recommended for vinyl flooring – you should not apply steam directly to vinyl, it needs to be applied through a pad.

7. If you have a door mat laid onto your vinyl flooring make sure it is suitable! Some backings on door mats will react with vinyl causing staining – typically a yellowing.

8. Make sure you keep any off cuts – vinyl is one of the easiest floors to undertake a repair.   This repair can even be made to be virtually invisible by cutting along a grout or plank line.

9. Never us an abrasive cleaning product such as a cream cleaner as this may damage the vinyl wear layer – this is always tempting with bathroom flooring as this is the room this type of product is usually present.

10. If your new floor starts to stretch or “bubble” have it attended to as soon as possible.  It is quite normal for the new flooring to stretch as it acclimatises to your home but if left for too long can cause a crease or permanent mark.
